English new year is not exactly a new year.while Tamil new year is perfectly a new year..how?..lets see

Lets look at the perfect Tamil calender :

Earth rotates the sun in an elliptical path through 360 degress.The circumference is divided into 12 arcs ...30 degrees each(these 12 houses are called raasis ...these mesham,rishabam etc).The period the earth takes in each house is called a month.The names of the months are named after the star which coincides in the full moon day of each month.

now the important thing is we have about 29-32 days in each month in tamil calender because the orbit is not circular..its elliptical..so the time varies.Thats why weve got no extra days for a month in leap year etc...days are calculated exactly for each month and so there is no need for a leep year(like english new year) because in tamil new year the earth completes the 360 degrees exactly which is not the truth in english new year!

Comedies in English new year

first of all during english new year the Earth dint complete its rotation fully.Its incomplete...this incompleteness is filled once in four years by adding a day to february as leap year. Because they give constant dates 30 and 31 to each month which is not accurate.so that gap is filled with the 29th february of leap year.

next thing their start for each day is starting at the midnight of previous day...while in Tamil calender the day begins exactly during sunrise!

this is scientific point of view!

now astrological point of view (for believers ...hehe)

Astrologically speaking...on April-14th...the planet Sun changes House from Meenam the Guru's own House ...to the next House, Mesham, the Sun's exaltment(Uccha) House. Both the Planets Guru(Jupiter) and Soorya(Sun) are the most important planets to render Success in ones Life according to astrology. So the influence of both these Good planets will be available to us in our success as per astrology.

some tit-bits:

~Tamil calender is the calender based on SUN as for us SUN is the prime GOD.thats why we have marriages in tamilnadu held on morning with the presence of SUN.

(It is adopted by malayalese and begalis)

~importance is also given to moons rotation around earth as we name the months after the stars coinciding on each full moon day

~Telugus,kannadigas and north Indians except bengalis calender is based on moons rotation! (note that their marriages held on nights)

just thought of posting the significance of tamil new year which is so perfect than the vague english calender!
